The Robert Morris Society will hold its Summer Meeting in Washington D.C. on Friday, June 25. The meeting will commence with the Society luncheon featuring Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour, chairman of the Republican Governors Association (RGA).
Society members will then gain access to a confidential briefing detailing how the states are dealing with the federal government’s takeover of the health care system. Members will hear from leading experts and governors’ senior staff about the impact that the new law will have on state budgets, the economy and the quality of our health care system as well as what steps states are taking to battle the most pernicious elements of the law.
Following the health care briefing, members will receive a confidential briefing on the RGA’s latest campaign strategies. Top political strategists and RGA operatives will detail for members the RGA’s 2010 campaign efforts and how the RGA plans to retake the majority of governorships in November. With 37 races taking place and redistricting on the horizon, there has never been a more important gubernatorial election cycle than the one taking place this year.
The day will conclude with the 2010 Comeback Reception with invited host Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell, a member of the RGA’s executive committee.
